Abstract

This study explores Bulian Village’s sacred ritual, focusing on the symbolic and material roles of the Godel Selem Injin (black calf). Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach that integrates anthropology, archaeology, and linguistics, the research explores ritual language, incantation structure, and material evidence to understand how the black calf functions as both a symbol and a medium within the ritual. Findings indicate that the ritual not only sustains a cosmological balance by linking the human and spiritual realms but also faces contemporary challenges that threaten its continuity. The study emphasizes the need for community-based preservation and digital documentation to safeguard this unique cultural practice.
