Abstract

Children's personal data, as part of their right to privacy, must be guaranteed and protected under human rights laws, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Indonesia has ratified. Given the significant number of children using the internet in Indonesia and their limited ability to protect themselves, safeguarding their privacy is crucial. This study aims to examine the legal framework governing the protection of children's personal data in Indonesian law and to develop a framework for protecting children's privacy rights in educational technology applications, grounded in principles of dignified justice. This research will employ a normative legal methodology. The study expects to identify significant threats posed by edutech companies, including unauthorized tracking of contact lists, monitoring of children's activities, and secret data processing without consent, often leading to the sale of data to third parties. Additionally, the study proposes a multi-stakeholder framework for safeguarding children's privacy, involving parents, companies, government, educational institutions, and the press.
