Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the legal basis for implementing regional government relations and cooperation with foreign parties, and to know the mechanism for implementing relations and cooperation between the local government and foreign parties. It was conducted in Indonesia. Research results show that the legal basis for the implementation of the relationship and cooperation between the Regional Government and foreign parties is based on Law No. 37 of 1999 concerning Foreign Relations, which is one of the legal foundations for the implementation of regional government relations and cooperation with foreign parties. In addition, the mechanism for implementing relations and cooperation between the regional government and foreign parties must refer to the provisions of Law No. 37 of 1999 concerning Foreign Relations as a consequence of Foreign Policy (Polugri) which is the Authority of the Center. Likewise, foreign relations follow Foreign Policy, national laws, and regulations.
