Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze tourism based on the culture and local wisdom of the people of the Talaud Islands Regency, which is packaged in the form of the Madulu'u'tonna festival as a ritual of rejecting reinforcements. The scope of this research is done with a case study. The data collection method in this study used qualitative analysis with an ethnographic approach as part of a qualitative approach, including direct observation at the research location in Talaud Islands Regency, especially the people of Melonguane Village. The findings show that the development of cultural tourism, in this case, local wisdom, is essential. The local wisdom 'Mandullu'u'tonna' creates self-awareness of the local community to live without being engineered by other parties, such as the government and the tourism industry. With that, the people of Talaud Islands Regency can maintain their traditional identity and current real life through tourism. Thus there is a connection (suturing) between past and present traditions and modernity, local communities, and global communities (tourism/tourists) in the context of developing cultural tourism through Madulu'u'tonna local wisdom.
